Should the university fail to recognize the concerns expressed by members of our community in regards to the awarding of Phyllis Schlafly with a doctorate of humane letters, we will demonstrate our disappointment with the following series of actions at commencement:
First:
We will disseminate information regarding the stances Mrs. Schlafly has taken which contradict the ideologies and foundations of our university. We will also provide white armbands and information concerning the protest procedures.
Second:
We will invite all attendees of the commencement ceremony to join in our protest by wearing white armbands.
Third:
At the moment of Mrs. Schlafly’s awarding we will invite all attendees to stand and turn our backs to the stage.
We encourage all concerned members of our community to participate with us and demonstrate to the Washington University administration and Board of Trustees that this action is unacceptable.
